WEST was founded to provide a better future for youth, via sport. WEST has made a significant and obvious contribution to youth crime reduction in the local community. WEST was founded to achieve a reduction in criminal and anti-social behaviour amongst young people. This is achieved by using structured sport, particularly football, to attract young people at risk, off the streets and away from crime & drugs.

WEST works with the local police/community consultative partnerships in identifying activities to help meet the targets of the local authority Crime and Disorder Reduction Plan for Westminster. This involves:

Liason with Westminster’s Community Safety Team
Outreach to youth at risk, at hotspots identified by the Police, to attract young people into WEST activities;
Working with the Young Offender’s Team to handle referrals;
Mentoring youth at risk;
Collaborating with Neighbourhood Wardens on local community initiatives;
Maintaining a dialogue with police officers in schools;
Liasing with other community organisations to address youth crime prevention and reduction, and identify youth at risk;
Administering a range of personal development activities involving education and vocational training in healthy lifestyles, responsible citizenship, and career building skill sets.
